Overview
The 2027 Ford F-150 receives a focused round of updates that strengthens the current-generation truck rather than replacing it with a full redesign. The changes cover styling, powertrains, driver-assistance technology and trim strategy, while the new F-150 Carhartt Edition adds a distinct workwear-inspired model to the range.
Ford continues to position the F-150 as a broad family of trucks, ranging from work-oriented versions to luxury and off-road models. For 2027, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum models receive revised grille and wheel designs, giving each trim a more recognizable appearance without changing the truck's basic body structure.
What's new for 2027
The major mechanical change is the introduction of a new standard 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 in place of the previous 2.7-liter EcoBoost. Ford says the new engine shares its core architecture with the engine it replaces, but is tuned to provide stronger torque delivery in the part of the rev range used most often in normal driving.
The model year also introduces BlueCruise with Towing, expands access to the hands-free highway system across more F-150 trims, brings new lower-content configurations to selected off-road models and adds the first-ever F-150 Carhartt Edition.
Powertrain and capability
The new 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 is the standard engine for the 2027 F-150. Ford lists the broader powertrain range with a 5.0-liter V8 producing 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 500 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.5-liter PowerBoost Hybrid with 570 lb-ft of torque.
When properly configured, Ford lists maximum towing of up to 13,500 lb with the available 3.5-liter EcoBoost. PowerBoost models continue to offer available Pro Power Onboard, including 2.4-kW and 7.2-kW configurations, allowing the truck to provide electrical power for tools and other equipment away from a fixed power source.
BlueCruise with towing
One of the most important technology updates is BlueCruise with Towing. The system extends Ford's hands-free highway-driving assistance to compatible trailer-towing situations on mapped Blue Zones. Ford says the technology was validated over thousands of miles and across a range of trailer combinations before being introduced on the 2027 F-150.
BlueCruise with Towing remains a driver-assistance feature: the driver must stay attentive and is responsible for the vehicle, trailer attachment, loading and configuration. Availability depends on vehicle equipment, trailer type and an active eligible BlueCruise plan or trial.
F-150 Carhartt Edition
The first F-150 Carhartt Edition is offered on 4x4 XLT Crew Cab models and translates Carhartt's workwear identity into the truck's exterior and cabin. The package includes unique 20-inch wheels, Carhartt-branded fender vents and badging, lower rocker and tailgate graphics, signature headlamps, a cowl hood, a modified grille, dual exhaust, off-road running boards and a Carhartt-branded spray-in bedliner.
Ford describes the collaboration as more than a simple appearance package. The design uses material, texture and stitching themes inspired by Carhartt's duck-canvas workwear and by the construction details found in jackets, bibs and other durable clothing.
Interior and technology
Inside the Carhartt model, two-tone seat treatments are combined with accent stitching on the door trim panels, center-console lid and steering wheel. Carhartt-branded all-weather floor mats complete the theme, while the wider F-150 cabin retains the technology, storage and utility features associated with the current truck.
The result is intended to keep the practical character of an XLT-based F-150 while giving the cabin a more distinctive material and color treatment. Ford says the design language is deliberately restrained, with the focus placed on durable surfaces and details rather than simply adding large logos.
Availability
Ford says the 2027 F-150 Carhartt can be ordered from the model's launch period and is scheduled to reach customers in early 2027. Equipment, pricing and exact availability vary by market and configuration.
