Overview
The 2027 Nissan Rogue Hybrid is a major reset for Nissan's compact SUV lineup in the United States. Rather than adapting a conventional hybrid system, Nissan is introducing the third generation of its e-POWER technology, a series-hybrid layout in which the wheels are driven by electric motors while the gasoline engine works as an onboard generator. The result is designed to combine the immediate response and smoothness associated with an electric vehicle with the familiar refueling routine of a gasoline SUV.
The new Rogue Hybrid also arrives with a completely redesigned exterior and a substantially updated cabin. Nissan is positioning it as a more refined, technology-focused version of the Rogue formula, while retaining the practical two-row layout, five-passenger capacity and everyday versatility that have made the nameplate one of the company's most important U.S. models.
What is new for 2027?
The biggest change is the powertrain. The Rogue Hybrid becomes Nissan's first U.S.-market application of third-generation e-POWER. Unlike many hybrids, the gasoline engine is not mechanically connected to the wheels. Instead, it generates electricity for the battery and the two electric drive motors. That means acceleration is delivered by the electric motors at all times, with no conventional transmission shifting between the engine and the road.
Nissan also gives the 2027 Rogue Hybrid a new exterior design, a more modern digital cockpit, new comfort features and a broader set of available driver and parking technologies. Every trim uses dual-motor all-wheel drive, so front-wheel drive is not part of the Rogue Hybrid lineup.
e-POWER hybrid system
Nissan's e-POWER system is best understood as an electric-drive vehicle that carries its own gasoline-powered electricity generator. The two electric motors are responsible for driving the wheels, while the internal-combustion engine produces the electrical energy needed to keep the battery and motors supplied. There is no requirement to plug the vehicle into an external charger.
This layout allows the powertrain to deliver electric-motor response from a standstill and to avoid the conventional gear changes associated with a normal automatic transmission. Nissan says the third-generation system has been developed to provide a quieter, smoother and more responsive driving character while improving efficiency. The company also notes that nearly two million e-POWER-equipped vehicles from the previous two generations have been sold globally since the technology was introduced in 2016.
Efficiency and all-wheel drive
All 2027 Rogue Hybrid trims use a dual-motor all-wheel-drive configuration. Rather than routing mechanical power through a conventional AWD transfer system, the front and rear electric motors can deliver propulsion electronically. Nissan lists 40 mpg city for the SR AWD configuration, giving the Rogue Hybrid a strong efficiency target for a compact crossover with standard all-wheel drive.
The vehicle also supports e-Pedal operation, allowing the driver to manage acceleration and a significant amount of deceleration with the accelerator pedal in many everyday driving situations. Nissan's new Smooth Stop technology is designed to refine the final phase of braking by coordinating brake software and the e-POWER system to reduce the abrupt sensation that can sometimes occur as a vehicle comes to rest in traffic.
Exterior design
The 2027 Rogue Hybrid moves away from the styling of the outgoing Rogue with a cleaner and more technical appearance. The front end integrates the lighting more closely with the grille, while the body sides use a more controlled surfacing treatment that gives the crossover a wider, more planted look. The rear is similarly simplified, with modern lighting graphics and a cleaner tailgate treatment.
Trim selection changes some of the visual character. The SR adds a sportier theme with 19-inch sport aluminum-alloy wheels and gloss-black exterior accents, while other versions place more emphasis on a premium appearance. Nissan is offering both single- and two-tone exterior treatments depending on configuration.
Interior and passenger space
Inside, the Rogue Hybrid adopts a more horizontal dashboard and a stronger emphasis on digital interfaces. Standard versions use dual 12.3-inch displays, while higher specifications can be equipped with a pair of 14.3-inch screens. The larger center display supports Google built-in on equipped trims, bringing integrated navigation, voice assistance and compatible apps directly into the vehicle's infotainment system.
Nissan has also focused on making the cabin quieter and more comfortable. Available equipment includes quilted TailorFit-appointed seating, a panoramic moonroof, ambient interior lighting, ventilated front seats, a memory driver's seat and an available 10-speaker Bose premium audio system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available, and Nissan also offers next-generation Qi2 wireless device charging on equipped versions.
The Rogue Hybrid remains a two-row, five-seat crossover. Nissan lists five LATCH attachment points for child-restraint flexibility and 39 cubic feet of cargo volume with the rear seats upright. Rear passengers can also have access to USB Type-C charging, while the wide-opening rear doors and flat load area continue the Rogue's family-oriented approach.
Technology and driver assistance
Depending on trim, the 2027 Rogue Hybrid can be equipped with Nissan's 3D HD Enhanced Intelligent Around View Monitor, which provides multiple camera perspectives around the vehicle to make tight parking situations easier to judge. Higher trims also add more advanced display hardware and convenience features, while the available Google-based infotainment environment places maps, media and vehicle functions into a single digital interface.
Driver-assistance equipment varies by trim and package, so buyers should confirm the exact specification of the vehicle they are considering. Nissan's launch strategy puts the SR with Technology Package at the front of the rollout, followed by the wider range of Rogue Hybrid trims.

For Nissan, the 2027 Rogue Hybrid is more than the addition of a hybrid badge.
