Volkswagen ID.3 GTI is Volkswagen’s new electric GTI flagship and, according to the brand, the most powerful GTI it has ever built in series production. It combines the updated ID.3 package with a GTI-specific chassis, rear-wheel drive, dedicated styling details and a much more serious performance brief than a regular compact EV.

This page is built as a complete premium article rather than a simple image dump. It includes the full official Volkswagen ID.3 GTI image set we could collect from the current newsroom album: driving scenes, static exterior photos, interior shots and engines & technology images, all arranged in the same premium gallery format used on your better posts.

Key point

The ID.3 GTI takes the GTI idea into the EV era with 326 PS, 545 Nm, rear-wheel drive, a 79 kWh net battery and forecast WLTP range of up to 601 km, while still keeping the compact hatchback practicality that has always made GTI models usable every day.

Exterior design

The ID.3 GTI is not just an ID.3 with badges. Volkswagen has reworked the front section, integrated GTI cues much more deliberately and added a more performance-oriented stance. The slim IQ.LIGHT matrix headlights, the illuminated VW logo, the red stripe and the motorsport-inspired lower treatment create a face that is much more assertive than on the milder versions of the car.

At the side, the standard 20-inch wheels are a major part of the visual message, while gloss-black elements and a revised colour philosophy help the roofline and rear section look more athletic. At the back, the body-colour spoiler and cleaner surface treatment move the car away from gadget-heavy EV styling and closer to the disciplined, compact-hatch GTI tradition.

Static exterior gallery

The static images help fill in the details: wheel design, light graphics, body surfacing, GTI trim pieces and the overall visual balance of the new model. Together with the driving photos, they give a much fuller impression of what Volkswagen is trying to achieve with the electric GTI formula.

Interior and cockpit

Inside, Volkswagen says the ID.3 GTI moves the cabin to a higher quality level than before. The layout uses a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit and a large 12.9-inch infotainment display, while GTI-specific details such as the red dashboard stripe, GTI logos and sports seats give the car a more recognisable personality.

The interior also plays an important role in the GTI character. There is a red 12-o’clock mark on the steering wheel, GTI-specific seat trim and a dedicated GTI mode that changes the driving profile, chassis and screen graphics. The result is a cabin that feels more driver-focused than a normal ID.3, without losing the practical strengths expected from a compact hatchback.

Powertrain, range and charging

The ID.3 GTI uses Volkswagen’s APP550 electric drive system, sending 240 kW (326 PS) and 545 Nm to the rear axle through a one-speed gearbox. That alone makes it interesting, because it becomes the first GTI in Volkswagen history with rear-wheel drive and gives the car a clearly different character from front-driven GTIs of the past.

Volkswagen quotes 0–100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and a top speed limited to 200 km/h. The 79 kWh net battery is forecast to deliver up to 601 km of WLTP range, while DC fast charging reaches up to 183 kW, allowing 10 to 80 per cent in about 29 minutes under suitable conditions.

Chassis and driving character

The GTI goes beyond extra power. Volkswagen says the car receives adaptive DCC sports chassis control as standard, progressive steering, revised tuning for springs, dampers and anti-roll bars, plus tyres specifically tailored to the model. That combination is meant to deliver not just stronger straight-line performance but also cleaner handling, better agility and more confidence out of corners.

GTI mode is central to that character. It sharpens the electric powertrain, steering and chassis settings, and can be paired with Launch Control. Volkswagen has also developed a new low-speed sound concept for the car, giving the ID.3 GTI a stronger emotional identity than a regular compact EV.

Availability

Volkswagen currently describes the ID.3 GTI as a near-production concept vehicle rather than a car already on sale. Pre-sales are planned to start at the beginning of 2027, with market launch timing indicated for the first quarter of 2027. That means some values are still forecast figures, but the overall package and design already appear very close to production form.
